Information About ECE's Network

The School of ECE's network uses the latest network technologies:

  • The core network is based on 3 high-capacity Layer3 switches:
    • 1 x Cisco Catalyst 6506 with a Supervisor 2 and MSFC2 module (backplane switching capacity: 256Gbps).
    • 2 x Foundry Networks BigIron 4000 (backplane switching capacity: 128Gbps) interconnected by Gigabit Ethernet links (1000Mbps).
  • Each data closet is connected to the ECE network core by Gigabit Ethernet links.
  • The campus connectivity is provided by two redundant Gigabit Ethernet links.
  • More than 95% of our desktops machines have a Fast Ethernet connectivity.
