Instructions for Samba on \\yamsa

  1. Check your network settings, should be similar to the following:

    DNS

    primary: 130.207.233.72
    secondary: 130.207.230.5

    WINS

    primary: 130.207.232.240
    secondary: 130.207.232.241

    NOTE 1: If you have a 199.77.xxx.xxx IP address, your DNS servers should be:

    primary: 199.77.145.208
    secondary: 130.207.233.72

    NOTE 2: If you are using DHCP (IP address automatically), the following is all you will need to add; WINS and DNS are provided by the DHCP server.

    domain name resolution order (suffixes)

    ece.gatech.edu
    ece-int.gatech.edu
    ee.gatech.edu
    eecom.gatech.edu
    gatech.edu

  2. Map a network drive

    NOTE: Your UNIX username and your NT username MUST be the same to be able to map the drive. Permissions on your UNIX home directory must be world readable and executable (chmod xx5).

    Windows NT and Windows 2000

    • Open My Computer
    • Select Map a Network Drive from the Tools menu
    • Drive: U:
    • Folder: \\yamsa\yourUNIXusername
    • User Name: git-ece\yourNTusername
    • Password: your NT password

    Windows 9x/Me

    • You must be logged into Client for Microsoft Networks with your NT username
    • Open My Computer
    • Select Map a Network Drive from the Tools menu
    • Drive: U:
    • Folder: \\yamsa\yourUNIXusername
